Aurora Teagarden Mysteries franchise premiered its first movie, Aurora Teagarden Mystery: A Bone to Pick, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in 2015. The series is based on Charlaine Harris’ 11 mystery books of the same name. The books, which were published between 1990 and 2017, follow Aurora Teagarden, a professional librarian at Lawrenceton Public Library who runs the Real Murders Club, a group of true crime fans who come together to study famous crimes throughout the history of their small town.
The series starred Full House alum Candace Cameron Bure in 19 movies from 2015 to 2022. Bure was recast by Lifetime movie actress Skyler Samuels, who plays a younger version of Aurora Teagarden, in 2023 after Bure left Hallmark for Great American Family.
“The opportunity of getting to kind of reinvent and reimagine this beloved character in her earlier years was really fun, and a new creative challenge I haven’t gotten to do before. It was an exciting job to take on and it’s been a joy,” Samuels told Media Village in June 2023 of taking over the role of Aurora Teagarden.
